Our company is based in Melbourne, but it only takes an hour to fly to Sydney, Adelaide or Canberra and two hours to Queensland. So, with high speed cable internet and the cheap price of airfares, distance is not an issue.
With this in mind, we are able to meet with you personally to discuss your documentation needs, set the project in motion and get familiar with the application or the project to be documented.
If we are documenting an application, we can use either a standalone copy of the application on our machines (either Windows or MAC) or we use a Remote Login to your site (the preferred alternative) to gain access to the application and relevant files.
The project can be worked in Melbourne and monitored by you frequently either from the files on your server (Remote Login) or over the internet via our website or via an FTP site: you maintain complete control.
We allocate a secure web location for each of our clients for the duration of the project. Each client is allocated their own username and login to their own personal account and each account is 1 gigabyte. Using our secure web location you can view, upload, download or edit your files as you wish. You do not need any special software to do this, just your computer connected to the internet and your web browser (either MAC or Windows based). Our File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software is easy to use; as simple as pressing a "+" button to upload your files and pressing a "-" button to download your files to your hard-drive.
Further meetings at your site can be arranged as required.
This process can work successfully and it removes the need for you to provide a work location, equipment and software for the Technical Writer.
